Spielberg and his endless budget only make the film visually appealing, but the old chemistry is missing. 由於原片和歌曲實在太經典，很長一段片長鬥覺得就是對60年前的卡拉OK。而對那些沒能流傳的曲子也就沒了記憶。看到後麵，才覺得致敬和獨創的比例挺合適。獨創尤其體現在演員和語言上，終於接受外語的好萊塢，幹脆把鯊魚幫全用拉美演員，且連西語部分都不配字幕，顯然從老家夥斯皮爾伯格做起，跟迂腐的過去決裂。但畢竟珠玉在前，歌舞部分尤其決鬥戲，真沒當年看到西區故事時的震撼了。
